  • It is always better to include your contact information on the top of the cover letter. Do not forget to include your phone number and email address if any.
  • Do not use a common cover letter for all the employers. You should change the cover letter according to the requirements specified by each employer.
  • The initial lines of your cover letter should give a brief introduction about you and do not forget to express your desire to apply for the job with the employer.
  • The first paragraph of the body of the cover letter should grab the attention of the employer. It is better not to use the sample application letters available on the internet. But, you can use these letters as reference or sample and you should spend some time in editing these letters and making it more suitable for the employer to whom you are going to submit your CV. Make sure that there is no spelling or grammatical errors in your cover letter. This will sure boost your image of professionalism in the mind of the interviewer.
  • In the second paragraph of the body of the letter, do not forget to say why you are the perfect person for the job and why the employer should select you as against your competitors. This can be done by giving a brief yet descriptive background about your previous work experiences or your educational qualifications.
  • In the final paragraph of the cover letter, do not fail to thank and acknowledge the interviewer/employer for spending some time for reviewing your application for the employment.
  • While addressing the cover letter, it is better to address it to a specific person. If you are not aware of the name of the person, you can call the HR department of the organization and can get the name of the head of the department for which you are going to apply.
